Bring on the New Year!

Happy New Year! I wonder if anyone reading this saw any snow this year! I thought about snow a lot... it is funny how we adjust to wherever we are isn't it? Sometimes I think that I am just as cold here in Cairo, Egypt as I was in Rexburg ID! Crazy me.. or does anyone else feel like that. I suppose as with everything else in life, we adjust accordingly with what our most recent experiences have been. I guess sometimes we do compare to past experiences long gone, but are those accurately remembered, I mean... was your birthday cake on your 8th birthday really so much better than the cake you ate earlier today? Or are you mixing up the events surrounding the cake? Do I make any sense at all or do I successfully have all of you confused completely?

Now that I have your attention... Our New Year rang in loud and clear with the normal confusion of wondering what time it really was. One person's watch said 11:59, one said 12:00, one 12:55, and I think maybe one said 12:02 when we said Happy New Year and drank our sparkling cider. We were real party-ers that night! We went to a Fiesta! It was SO fun! A family in our branch threw it- the Penrods- all of you would like them. They are really young and fun. Other families from the branch were there too... plus most of them have commissary benefits, so the food was fantastic as well as the company. I have to admit that I did maybe doze a little bit before midnight. But as my parents will surely tell you, there may never have been a New Year that I didn't doze a little! In fact last year, I think I fell asleep at 11:30... I couldn't say for sure, Jaimie knows probably.

Joe keeps asking me when I want to sit down and write out my goals for the New Year. I laughed... I, shamefully, quit making goals really. Each year, for the past like 10 years I've made the same half-hearted goal- I told him- I tell myself that this will be the year I stop biting my fingernails. Then I started laughing hysterically, because you see, this year I actually DID stop biting my fingernails! I only had to move to a dirty place like Cairo to stop it! So I can't say that New Years Goals are never accomplished anymore, so I suppose I'll be making so real goals this year. I'll think of something really good and definitely try my best to succeed! I wish you all luck with your own New Years Goals! I believe in you (I know it doesn't take moving across the world for some people to achieve their goals! But just in case, I am reminding myself that in 2008 I'll be moving across the world again, but this time back to the world I know!)

Love you all! I hope your day was fantastic as mine! I played the piano in sacrament meeting and actually surprisingly it went really well, so I'm pretty proud of myself, it is not an easy talk for me- playing hymns!
