Holiday (Christmas) Aprons

I ventured out yesterday to try to find a REALLY cute holiday apron! I love love love baking and the holidays but I dno't have a very good Christmas-y apron for it. I couldn't find one so I decided to be brave and make my own! I found a pattern and Joe helped me pick out the fabric...

This was my very first totally on my own sewing machine project. In the past my mom has always been there to help me out. I still had to borrow her machine (sewing machine is on my wish list)... and I set out last night. After cutting out the big part of the apron and starting to stitch it together. I realized I'd cut it out upside down. Usually it wouldn't be a problem but because it had words and pictures, it wouldn't really be so cute upside down....

So back to the store I went (about 15 min before they closed) to get another yard of fabric, good thing it was 60% off!

This time, I did a lot better! Not perfect, but practice makes perfect right?

So to not waste the one I had already cut (upside down) I decided to make the child's matching apron ... one day I'll have a girl..... The only one I could do was the smallest one (size 3/4) because it was the only one I could cut from the mis-cut piece. But look how adorable it is!!

Fun Fun Fun

Bizarre, picture arrangement... I am not a pro at figuring out how this all works.
Thought I'd do a quick post because I don't want to already become the lame-o why does she have a blog anyways girl again!
You'll see the awesome crafty-ness I showed for our annual halloween party this year! Mummys for little treat containers, and mummy hotdogs for treats. We had the party Monday and it was a huge hit (just family). We also recently converted our study into a pillow tv room (pictures shown). We love it! Finally bought a tv (time for the one I bought when I was 16 that my mom nearly made me return immediately to be replaced). We also got an antenna, yes they still have those, so for like $25 we got an antenna and can now watch shows on tv too..
On another note, I got my last two wisdom teeth out. Drugs during the surgery are way better in America than in Cairo but I do not respond well to hydrocodone or whatever pain meds they prescribed to me. Not a pretty story.
Maybe that's all for now. Told you I had an uber exciting life. My work is doing Hallo-week this week, crazy hat day tomorrow. And I'm getting my hair cut again (a semi-annual tradition).

Best FHE (family home evening) EVER

It's been a long time, I know. But now that I feel like I have more to say than just "Went to class today" or "skipped class today", I'll try to start up occassionally blogging again. I know that I have no super cute babies or kids to keep people interested though, I guess I'll just have to do my best~!

This post is about the best FHE EVER!!

It begins on a dark night.... (OK not really, it begins in September when they began putting halloween decorations in stores though). Since we love the holiday's, sometimes Joe and I like to stroll through craft stores and check out their decorations. For some reason, I like looking at craft store decorations more than just normal store decorations. So there we were, at Michaels, when we saw the house.... I was going to put a link to it, but couldn't find it. It's basically a 3D foam kit where you build a haunted house. But it cost $20, a little pricey. So we went home and printed off a coupon for michael's (always available online), and went back for our house building kit.

We did make ourselves wait for the first Monday of October before we built it. And it was so fun! The box said ages 6+ so it could be fun as a family activity too (one note if you choose to do a family activity, adults should build the house first and let the kids stick all the spooky foam stickers on it, because the house took a while to figure out!)

So check it out!

I put the pictures at the top :) We got that pumpkin candle holder at Hobby Lobby...
But it was really fun to build together and stick everything on. Even for uncrafty people like us. We already bought a small Santa's Toy Shop for christmas, they had a few things (We are going to buy more Christmas ones, one at a time).
Well until next time!
