We have had some great experiences since Estrella arrived. First, we went to church on Friday, which is I believe Estellas first experiences beginning the weekend with the Sabbath day. We had a special testimony meeting, since last week we just had Elder Oaks visit many members had many different impressions form his comments and example. Also, we had a couple of special visitors to our branch. Two brothers came from Japan b/c last week was the 50th anniversary of Egyptian/Japanese diplomatic relations. The two men organized a cultural exchange trip with a group of Japanese men to experiences Egypt. Since the two men are members of our church they came out for church on Friday. It was wonderful to hear there testimonies of the restored gospel and to listen as one of them sang his favorite hymn in Japanese.
I think it was also fun for Estrella to experience our wonderful primary class. We have the 11 yr olds and they are defiantly not ordinary--they are amazing! All of the families in our ward are very strong and close as families, and very active in the church. It is different here b/c it is out of the way and more difficult to make it to church, so a person really has to have a strong desire to be there or they wouldn't come. Most of the families have traveled the world either in international business or with different government agencies. The children grow up in strong family units and there is a recognizable difference. They are so happy, excited for church and knowledgeable. We have to step it up a little to teach them b/c going over the basic story lines like we would with most kids there age doesn't cut it--our kids not only finish our lines but go on to finish the story. We have adjusted to teach them more Sunday school type lessons.
This past Friday near the end of class we were talking about what we could do to be happier more often in our lives. Jessa said she knew a guy everyone loves b/c he is so happy then in her description of him she said she met him when they were living in Peru (South America) and he moved to Saudi Arabia with his family. It's funny sometimes to think about Jessa being only 11yrs old was born in Congo(I think or somewhere in Sub-saurian Africa) lived in Peru and now lives in Egypt. She has a wonderful family that has taught her so much and is a pleasure to teach every Sunday.
Well I gotta study for a grammar quiz now. Wish I could write more---maybe we will get Estrella to write some stuff
